My Journey to Equity-Minded Editing and and Coaching for Scholars and Nonprofit Professionals

Dr. Comfort Z. Olorunsaiye founder of EvidenceBridge Editing

I came to the United States in 2009 as an international student, with a pharmacy degree and years of pharmacy and public health experience. I knew my field. What I still had to learn was how to navigate an academic system with its own unclear rules, unstated expectations, and informal dynamics that no orientation fully prepares you for.

That journey took me from a master's and doctoral program to a postdoctoral fellowship at the CDC, to the International Rescue Committee in New York, and eventually to a faculty position where I earned tenure, won NIH and foundation grants as a principal investigator, and published in journals including The Lancet -- while mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and scholars across institutions.

I founded EvidenceBridge Editing because I know what it costs to do this work without someone truly in your corner, and I know what becomes possible when you finally have that. Every scholar I work with carries hard-won knowledge and real expertise. My job is to help you get it onto the page, in front of the right people, and across the finish line.

Who I Support

International Scholars

Are you navigating academia as an international student, without a network or mentor who truly understands where you are starting from? Are you afraid of asking for help because you worry it will make you look incompetent or underprepared?

First-Generation Researchers

Are you building a scholarly career without a roadmap, figuring out unwritten rules that others inherited without even knowing it?

Parenting Students and Scholars

Are you doing rigorous academic work while carrying the invisible weight of caregiving responsibilities that never pause for deadlines?

Pre-tenure Faculty

Are you navigating the publish or perish landscape while teaching, serving, and building a research program simultaneously -- and wondering if anyone truly understands what that costs?

Nonprofit Professionals

Are you leading a health or community organization that produces grant proposals, evaluation reports, and policy briefs -- and you need a strategy partner to make sure your written work is as compelling and rigorous as the programs you deliver?

Why I Do This Work

My Research Identity

I am a tenured associate professor of public health, a health services researcher, and a population health scientist. My research focuses on global health and equity, using mixed methods approaches to center the lived experiences of communities facing multiple dimensions of marginalization.

Why I Built EvidenceBridge

I built EvidenceBridge Editing because I believe scholars who have been historically excluded, underestimated, or unsupported deserve access to high-quality, compassionate, equity-minded support -- the kind that helps them finish their work, win opportunities, and move their careers forward on their own terms.

My Commitment to You

This is more than editing. It is mentorship, advocacy, and partnership, grounded in lived experience and a deep belief in your potential.
